Stephanie Meyer planned An Alternate Ending to Eclipse?

With the filming of Breaking Dawn completed, and fans eagerly awaiting it’s release, it may come as a surprise to some that Stephanie Meyer had an alternate ending planned for Eclipse, the 3rd book in series.  According to Stephanie, there was talk with her publishers to end the series within 3 books.

Zimbio gives us the details :

Twilight fans may be surprised to know that Stephanie Meyer at one point outlined an alternate ending for Eclipse, the third book in the series. At the time, Meyer explains that publishers worried the series would go stale if there were too many books so the plan was to cut it off at three.

While Meyer already had ideas about her characters’ stories well beyond a third book, she consented to work out an ending for Eclipse that would have brought the series to a close. In August of 2010, Stephenie gave an interview currently available ontwilightseriestheories.com where she talked about the thought process that went into that alternate ending, but ultimately declined to give its major details.

“See if I tell them, I can’t write. And so that becomes…’cause then you’ve destroyed it. But um, there was a certain point in time not as much faith in the series and I was told to end it at three. And I’d never planned to do…you know I was…There were three books right? There were supposed to be three books and there was no idea of it going on, and in my head it was this long series. And so it was like: ‘No, we should end this.’ Because you know if you go on too long sometimes series lose their steam or whatever. And the story was just so wide open then. There was so much that wasn’t done and so to have ended it there, it would have had to be a radical ending. Um, radically different. There [were] some fantasy elements that I don’t think people would’ve seen coming. I don’t think they would have responded well. My mom hates it! Hates the ending. My sister was cool with it. And you know I could see that because there were things…Some people, the way they’re tied to the characters are dependent on certain aspects of those characters, and now I’m gonna sound really really bad but it messed with that for some people. But then once I started thinking about it I was really intrigued by that conversation. There was this really dramatic scene and Bella doesn’t know what’s going on and the visuals in it were really strong for me. And so then I wanted to write it. You know back when nobody cared about the books and I could do whatever I wanted, I was like Bree it was gonna be on the website. That was the plan all along. I would write up this alternate ending, but will people throw rocks at me if I write this? There’s a possibility! Oh and then people will think: ‘Oh this is the real ending and that’s the fake ending.’ When it’s not you know…this is just an alternate. This is the way it could’ve gone. But it didn’t and I like it better how it is.”

Now personally I could never have imagined the series without Breaking Dawn, and am so glad that Stephanie decided to write the 4th book

Catherine Hardwicke delighted by Eclipse nominations

Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke thinks it's 'awesome' that the third film in the series - Eclipse - has been nominated for eight MTV Movie Awards.

Hardwicke, who directed the first movie, told MTV News: 'I think it's great. I love it that people are so passionate about it and that people are really into it and following the characters.

'I think it's a great tribute, obviously, to what [author] Stephenie Meyer created… Rob [Pattinson] and Kristen [Stewart] and everybody's been able to just keep it going and keep people loving it all this time and, of course, all the directors.

'I think it's awesome.'

NextMovie: Ashley Greene and Company Doing Own Stunts in ‘Breaking Dawn’

When NextMovie sat down to discuss her upcoming film, “Skateland,” she confessed that she and the rest of gang — yep, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner too — were ambitious when it came to doing their own daring battle tricks for “Breaking Dawn.”
“They’re working with special effects but actually our cast as a whole is pretty athletic,” she tells NextMovie exclusively. “Everyone really wants to be able to do their own stunts. We all worked really hard to do as much as production would possibly allow us do insurance-wise.
“A lot of what you see will actually be us doing it.”
She couldn’t go into further detail about what all that entailed, but we’re guessing it means she’ll be doing quite a bit of running, jumping and pouncing on members of the Volturi army. In other words, Bring. It. On.
I think the cast did quite a bit of their own stunts in Eclipse also! What a talented group.

Jodelle Ferland reminisces about Eclipse & talks potential Bree movie

Eclipse’s Jodelle Ferland recently talked with Movie Mazzupial about working on The Twilight Saga, a potential Bree Tanner film, and more!
MM: Once you got the role of Bree, did you have any idea just how coveted that character was and how much people wanted to be a part of the film?
JK: Wow, if everybody wanted it as badly as I did then a lot of people were disappointed. I wanted it pretty badly and honestly, I didn’t think I would get it. I try not get my hopes up, especially for something as big at that. Only the first movie had come out at that point (when I got the part) and I had just finished reading the last book and thought they were amazing, Stephenie Meyer is great writer.
MM: Well, Stephenie wrote a whole book about your character too. How exciting was that for you, to have a whole story about Bree?
JK: I was amazed Stephenie had actually written a book all about my character. Of all the people in the saga she choose Bree. I’m a huge reader, I love books and I read everything. I got to be one of the first people to read the book and I was reading it on set as we were filming.

Xavier Samuel talks ‘Eclipse’ with MTV Australia

MTV Australia caught up with Twilight: Eclipse baddie Xavier Samuel at the Optus One80Project last week. He talked a little about his Twilight experience.
MTV: Were you ever worried about just being known as the guy who was in ‘Twilight’?
Xavier: That never crossed my mind. I just felt really lucky to be cast in a role that wasn’t your average villain. There was a bit of complexity to this guy, but I never really felt like, I’m going to be playing vampires for the rest of my life!
MTV: Did you feel the pressure acting out such a beloved book and series?
Xavier: Well I felt great about it because when I flicked through the book I was like, where’s Riley?! (laughs) There was like one line, literally one sentence!! I was fortunate in the sense that they decided to depart from Bella’s point of view for the first time – it’s still faithful to the book but it extrapolates other dimensions in it. So there is a kind of degree of expectation and pressure to remain true to a character that is so close to so many people’s hearts. So the pressure’s on, certainly for the characters that have more of a journey. But I think they’ve done an amazing job bringing the books to life.
MTV: Is there any talk about developing Stephanie Myer’s fifth book ‘The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner’? Because you’d obviously be a big part of that…
Xavier: Well I haven’t heard any whispers, but it’s a really cool back story. I remember reading it, David Slade [director of ‘Twilight: Eclipse’] gave me the manuscript of this book, and it really sang to me, and for me it was a great source of information as well as being a great story.

Xavier Samuel talks 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' and 'Bree Tanner'

It's been a while since we've heard anything from Xavier Samuel ("Riley" in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse), but this weekend, he spent some time in Sydney, Australia as a presenter for the Optus ONE80PROJECT Awards, and MTV Australia caught up with him to do an interview.

"[W]hen I flicked through the book I was like, where’s Riley? . . .  There was like one line, literally one sentence! I was fortunate in the sense that they decided to depart from Bella’s point of view for the first time - it’s still faithful to the book but it extrapolates other dimensions in it.
