Stephanie Meyer planned An Alternate Ending to Eclipse?

With the filming of Breaking Dawn completed, and fans eagerly awaiting it’s release, it may come as a surprise to some that Stephanie Meyer had an alternate ending planned for Eclipse, the 3rd book in series.  According to Stephanie, there was talk with her publishers to end the series within 3 books.

Zimbio gives us the details :

Twilight fans may be surprised to know that Stephanie Meyer at one point outlined an alternate ending for Eclipse, the third book in the series. At the time, Meyer explains that publishers worried the series would go stale if there were too many books so the plan was to cut it off at three.

While Meyer already had ideas about her characters’ stories well beyond a third book, she consented to work out an ending for Eclipse that would have brought the series to a close. In August of 2010, Stephenie gave an interview currently available ontwilightseriestheories.com where she talked about the thought process that went into that alternate ending, but ultimately declined to give its major details.

“See if I tell them, I can’t write. And so that becomes…’cause then you’ve destroyed it. But um, there was a certain point in time not as much faith in the series and I was told to end it at three. And I’d never planned to do…you know I was…There were three books right? There were supposed to be three books and there was no idea of it going on, and in my head it was this long series. And so it was like: ‘No, we should end this.’ Because you know if you go on too long sometimes series lose their steam or whatever. And the story was just so wide open then. There was so much that wasn’t done and so to have ended it there, it would have had to be a radical ending. Um, radically different. There [were] some fantasy elements that I don’t think people would’ve seen coming. I don’t think they would have responded well. My mom hates it! Hates the ending. My sister was cool with it. And you know I could see that because there were things…Some people, the way they’re tied to the characters are dependent on certain aspects of those characters, and now I’m gonna sound really really bad but it messed with that for some people. But then once I started thinking about it I was really intrigued by that conversation. There was this really dramatic scene and Bella doesn’t know what’s going on and the visuals in it were really strong for me. And so then I wanted to write it. You know back when nobody cared about the books and I could do whatever I wanted, I was like Bree it was gonna be on the website. That was the plan all along. I would write up this alternate ending, but will people throw rocks at me if I write this? There’s a possibility! Oh and then people will think: ‘Oh this is the real ending and that’s the fake ending.’ When it’s not you know…this is just an alternate. This is the way it could’ve gone. But it didn’t and I like it better how it is.”

Now personally I could never have imagined the series without Breaking Dawn, and am so glad that Stephanie decided to write the 4th book

Saoirse Ronan Cast as the Lead in Stephenie Meyer's 'The Host'

EXCLUSIVE: Saoirse Ronan has been set to star in The Host, the screen adaptation of the bestselling novel by Twilight Saga author Stephenie Meyer. Scripted by Andrew Niccol, the film figures to be one of the hot titles when Inferno launches sales at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival next week. Niccol, who was originally set to direct, might resurface as the filmmaker.

Ronan, the Oscar-nominated star of Atonement, The Lovely Bones and most recently Hanna, will play Melanie Stryder, one of the last humans putting up a fight against an alien species called Souls. These parasites invade human bodies, fuse to each person's consciousness and systematically erase their personalities. Melanie is captured by the aliens and implanted by a Soul called Wanderer, something of a legend because of all of the "hosts" she has attached to on numerous planets. Wanderer's goal is to get Melanie to give up the remaining pockets of humans, but instead the alien finds Melanie to be unique in her unwillingness to surrender her consciousness. Wanderer is so overwhelmed by Melanie's memories and feelings, the alien is driven to reconnect with Melanie's old life.

Examiner: "The Official Illustrated Guide" debuts number one on WSJ

Photobucket

Is The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide by Stephenie Meyer fiction or nonfiction? After reading the detailed portraits of the characters' lives contained within it, one might surmise that it is a work of fiction, especially since their backstories are told as fact when they are clearly the constructs of Meyer's fictional Twilight Saga world. However, there are sections, like the question and answer series between Meyer and fellow author Shannon Hale, which are nonfiction through and through. So, which is it? Both, apparently.

Last week, The Guide debuted at number four on IndieBound bestseller book list with the categorization, "Hardcover Fiction Bestsellers." USA Today also deemed it fiction on their list.

Now, The Wall Street Journal has unveiled its bestseller book list for the week of April 17th (The Guide hit shelves on April 12th), and The Guide debuted at number one!

We will always be able to discussTwilight on a different level because of this fabulous opportunity afforded to us. Coming together and experiencing the amazing Stephenie Meyer is something that we experienced as a group. I will never forget the ten other winners and their guests. I have made life long friends with all of them. Many of these memories were shared with the one person that made all of this possible, Stephenie Meyer! The Possibilities are Endless:
But I bet you are wondering how all of this was possible. Well, on Wednesday, March 2nd, my grandma received a call from Ames from Little, Brown. Through the course of the call, Ames explained that I was the potential winner of the Twilight International Fan Event for the U.S., and that we should expect an overnight envelope with paperwork that needed to be notarized and signed. USA Today: ‘Twilight’ Fans Are on Team Meyer

This is a great article in which Stephenie answers some much asked fan questions. It’s so great to hear from Stephenie!
Ten lucky Twilight fans from around the world have come to this metropolitan Canadian city to meet the mega-selling author whose young-adult novels about an alluring vampire and his human soul mate have entranced them since 2005.
It’s hard to say who’s enjoying this total Twilight talkfest more — the attendees or the writer.
“I just love having the chance to sit down with a small group of fans,” says Meyer, who is looking a little moreHollywood these days and a bit less like a suburban mom of three. “Bigger events are just too nerve-racking.”

Super fans, super discussions

In roundtable discussions with Meyer at a Vancouver hotel, the winners discuss with finesse and endless authority vampire anatomy, werewolf legends, the back stories of the series’ minor characters and, of course, the Edward/Bella/Jacob love triangle. (Jacob is the werewolf who also loves Bella and is played in the films by the often shirtlessTaylor Lautner.)
But like seasoned journalists (many of these fans blog about the series), they’re also here to ferret out juicy details: When will Meyer publish a new novel? What’s it like being on the Twilight film set? What’s new in The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide, a 543-page encyclopedic companion that Little, Brown will publish in hardcover for $24.99 on April 12? (The e-book will be available for $11.99 on April 13.)
Meyer, relaxed and happy to share, tells them plenty:
•On the illustrated guide: “My favorite part is the vampire histories. There’s a lot there that’s new. Alice’s (Cullen) back story is one no one has known until now. And I think fans will be surprised at how much fun (Cullen nemesis) Victoria’s story is.”
•On whether she’ll ever write more books about Edward and Bella: “The story’s already been told, and I doubt I’ll ever write another series based on the same characters.”
•On the possibility she’d ever finish Midnight Sun, a Twilight novel told from Edward’s viewpoint that she nixed when parts of it were leaked online in 2008: “I’m hoping to do it someday because I know that’s what people want. No matter what book I put out from here to eternity they’ll want Midnight Sun, but I’m just not writing about vampires right now.”

Twilight Breaking Dawn Movie

Twilight breaking Dawn Movie - Twilight 4 - Breaking Dawn the movieA few weeks ago Stephenie Meyer addressed the online buzz about Twilight Breaking Dawn being in two parts:

"On the subject of the Breaking Dawn film: there is no drama over whether the book should be one movie or two. My personal feeling is that it would be very difficult to cram the whole story into one movie (as I've said in many interviews previous to this)."
Author Stephenie Meyer

Kristen Stewart, who plays the role of Bella Swan, was also asked how she felt about the possibility of doing a two part movie for Breaking Dawn:

"I am down. I wanna do it. The story absolutely warrants two films. It would be a six-month shoot if we made two movies back-to-back, compared to a three-month shoot. It would be much more satisfying to do two films, because we wouldn't have to drop so much of the story; it wouldn't be like, 'Well, we didn't get to do this scene, this scene or this scene.' You'd get less of that — which would be good."
Actress Kristen Stewart

So We may now take for granted that the movie Twilight Breaking Dawn will be in two parts! Let's just hope that we won't have to wait too long between t5he two movies!
:)

Breaking Dawn Movie in 2011

Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn MovieSummit Entertainment have acquired the rights to all the sequels to Twilight that have been published so far. So of course a Breaking Dawn movie is on the agenda. If everything goes as smoothly as planned with previous movies of the Twilight Saga, then we may expect the fourth Twilight film to be released during Summer 2011.

The official title of the Twilight 4 movie should The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn.

Plot - Synopsis:

Twilight 4 Movie - Breaking Dawn"Bella and Edward are finally together: following their wedding they go in honeymoon to an island off the coast of Brazil. Over there Bella, still a human, got pregnant from her husband Edward, who is a vampire.
The crossbreed child to be born is cause of concern even before her birth: the werewolves feel the child could be a threat to them (putting Jacob , and even the vampires aren't really at ease...
During childbirth Bella loses so much blood that she is on the verge of death. But Edward must fulfill his promise to make his wife Bella into a vampire in order to save her.
Will Edward and Bella be able to save their daughter?"

Breaking Dawn Movie - Bella, Edward and JacobObviously Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner will be back for the movie Twilight Break Dawn, respectively as Bella Swan, Edward Cullen the Vampire, and Jacob Black the Werewolf.

But no clue yet about the movie director of Breaking Dawn: could be Chris Weitz or someone else. Hard to tell: Summit Entertainment turns like weathercock...

But well Stephenie Meyer is the real guardian of her work so I bet Breaking Dawn will be a gorgeous final Twilight movie (final, well that is unless Midnight Sun is published, and a deal is made to adapt it). Below Stephenie Meyer talks about the Breaking Dawn novel:

The plot of Stephenie Meyer's book Breaking Dawn is so elaborate that the usual trade off will occur with its movie adaptation: can't fit everything in just one movie so some parts will get axed. So aside from the main plot, what detail of the novel do you think should absolutely be part of the Twilight movie Breaking Dawn?
;-P
