Breaking Dawn, the fourth and final book in the Twilight series review

When you begin Breaking Dawn, the fourth and final book in the Twilight series, it’s hard to imagine that the saga could get any more dramatic. Suppose that in the past two years you’ve not only switched schools and moved halfway across the country, but you’ve also been stalked by two blood-drinkers obsessed with killing you; jumped off a cliff before stopping the love of your life from committing suicide; and started fighting with your BFF because — guess what? — he’s a werewolf...and he’s in love with you. It sounds extreme, but that’s just life for otherwise ordinary Bella Swan — though having vampire Edward Cullen for a boyfriend, and now fiancĂ©, tends to make the adventure worth it.

In fact, at first it seems like things might be actually be calming down for Bella and her immortal soon-to-be-family. Her elaborate wedding goes relatively smoothly—despite the appearance of her well-meaning friend Jacob. And though her island honeymoon gets off to a rocky start, she and Edward are more than certain that their love will get them through anything. Then the impossible happens. [HUGE Spoiler Warning] Bella discovers she’s pregnant, and not just with an ordinary human baby, but with a half-vampire, half-human child. Bella’s frightening pregnancy and much-anticipated transformation into a vampire are complex enough, but when suspicious Volturi rulers arrive bent on destroying the gifted baby, the Cullens must join with vampire and werewolf allies alike to make their family safe, whatever the cost.

This book is probably the most emotional of the series. With the lives of dozens of other vampires in danger (you’ll definitely need the list provided at the back of the book to keep track of all the new characters), the stakes are higher than ever. It’s easy to understand the motives for the sacrifices the characters are forced to make, and the plot twists and constant action will definitely keep you up late flipping all 756 pages. Besides, despite the danger, the book isn’t always serious. Emmett has plenty of irritating-big-brother jokes at the newlyweds’ expense, and it’s fun to see Bella finally be able to kick some butt as a “newborn.”

Of course, the intense love story is still enough to make you wish for an impossibly gorgeous, brooding, romantic vampire of your own. There are more than a few swoon-worthy scenes to make you weak in the knees, and it’s clearer than ever that in spite of the odds, Edward and Bella are destined to be together. Jacob-lovers still have lots to cheer for, though. Not only are there—literally—hundreds of pages told from his hilarious point of view, you’ll also get one of the novel’s biggest shocks when he finally imprints…and that particular jaw-dropper is way too good to spoil.

Author Stephenie Meyer incorporates plenty of catch-ups from Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse plots, so it’s easy to dive straight into the characters and action even if Breaking Dawn is your introduction to her world. Yes, it’s sad to see Bella’s story come to a close, but with December’s Twilight movie, further series spin-offs, and a guide to the saga planned, there is still tons for Twilighters to anticipate. Though it might be last book in the official saga, with all the romance and adventure we have to look forward to, it kind of feels like Breaking Dawn is just the beginning.

Watch: Evan Rachel Wood 30 minutes interview with DP/30 Emmy Watch

The gorgeousness of Evan Rachel Wood is not over yet! Yes, she has a new haircut, which I reeeally love. Thanks to f!@#yeahevanrwood for posting this video to the blog, now we get to see Evan's 30-minutes interview with DP/30 Emmy Watch. I'm so rooting for her in this year's Emmy. Hopefully she'll make the nomination list!

Her new haircut reminds me of Keira Knightley's in "Domino". Both are so gorgeous with this style! <3 Looking forward for Evan's appearances this month!

Report from "The Amazing Spider-Man" exclusive footage screening at Sony

I just found this very interesting report of Jim, who was invited to watch some selected some "The Amazing Spider-Man" footages in an exclusive screening at Sony on June 1st. However, he didn't describe the footage/scenes, but said that they were absolutely awesome. Here's Jim's report:

So we were invited to see some Spiderman footage today at Sony. John Schwartzman was there and we talked a bit before going into the screening room.

"This is the best looking footage I have ever shot... these are the best images I have ever seen!" was his comment. I asked him if this was just his enthusiasm spilling out or if this was actually the case (pretty big statement). He thought for a few moments and said "No, really... this is the best footage I have ever seen from any camera. Ever."

So, with that, we went in. There was a Sony T420 projector (same as we have at RED Studios) in a grading room at Colorworks. We talked to "The Steve" (colorist) about his experience with the EPIC footage and opinion. He confirmed his opinion matched John's and we sat front row with huge expectations.

I have to say that we were all stunned. Shocked. So incredible. Not like RED ONE MX. Not like anything we had seen from another camera. Same resolution and feel of our new EPIC reel, but with actors and a story and Schwartzman's ability to light.

The consensus in the room (to a person) was that this looked like film. Like 65mm film. Better. Without any trace of film's blocky detail in shadows or grain. Jaw dropping.

EPIC is performing as it's name implies it should. We will keep John's comment close to us... to remind us how hard we need to work to never lose this position. We really like it.

Jim

It's more technical which I don't understand *lol* but it assures that the movie indeed has a breathtaking visualization. Andrew Garfield in 3D? Sure I'm not gonna miss it! ;) (And hopefully Evan Rachel Wood in 3D as well soon as she signs for Mary Jane Watson. Not a fact, but simply a wishful thinking. :D)

Andrew Garfield red carpet interview with Christian Siriano at MTV Movie Awards 2011

Huge thanks to AGarfieldmylove who notified me about this video: Andrew Garfield red carpet interview with Christian Siriano at the MTV Movie Awards 2011!

We found some new fun facts from this video: he's been a fan of MTV Movie Awards since he was a child, he brought his high school friends to watch the show, and that he actually has a nice skill to interview people at the red carpet about fashion (seems like Andrew's the one who interviews Christian about what he's wearing, lol). NEW Evan Rachel Wood video interview & article with LA Times: from "Mildred Pierce" to Emmys!

I reeeally love this new interview of Evan Rachel Wood and Los Angeles Times! The LA Times thinks that her performance as Veda Pierce in "Mildred Pierce" will earn her a nomination at the upcoming Emmy Awards, and I can't agree more! Evan also did a webcam interview with Tom O'Neil, showing her new haircut (or she just pulled it back? Well, she looks GREAT!) and talked about this new version of "Mildred Pierce".

Evan Rachel Wood as that voracious, villainous Veda in 'Mildred Pierce'

Evan Rachel Wood looks like a good bet to nab an Emmy nomination for "Mildred Pierce." The HBO miniseries was a huge, critically hailed TV event, and the original 1945 film had a strong awards pedigree. Joan Crawford won her Oscar as Mildred, of course, and it looks like Kate Winslet is a shoo-in to win the Emmy. Ann Blyth was nominated in Oscar's supporting slot for the same role portrayed by Wood today: the whiny, ungrateful, status-scheming daughter of a single mom struggling to survive the Great Depression. Whether or not Wood wins will depend largely on who is nominated against her.

Wood's gutsy adaptation of Veda caused much, ahem, excitement thanks to a nude scene she did at the urging of Winslet. Why did she do it? Is she happy that she did? The scene was part of a steamy twist in the updated plot that you won't find in the 1945 film -– or the original novel by James M. Cain that was banned in Boston and a few other U.S. cities.

Expect "Mildred Pierce" to receive scads of other Emmy nominations, including best mini/movie. (The two categories will be combined this year.)

Check out our webcam chat below.

-- Tom O'Neil

Love your Emmy Awards prediction, Tom! And yes, I love it when she said "You know me personally, I'm nothing like that character," *lol*. Stay tune for more Emmy Awards news if our girl gets a nomination! ;)

'Vampire Diaries' Star Nina Dobrev Talks 'Twilight'

Vampire Diaries is off the air until September, and the next film in the Twilight Saga isn't set for release until November, but there is still buzz surrounding both the television and the film, and that buzz is generated by the stars that appear in both. Some of those stars stepped out at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night, and one of them was all too willing to talk about the other vampires in attendance.

That star was actress Nina Dobrev, the woman behind both Elena and Katherine on Vampire Diaries. She was stopped at the event on Sunday night, and she took a moment to talk about Twilight. According to MTV News, she said the following: "I think that we're all really happy for each other. I'm very happy that they exist because we exist because of them. Their success is our success. I'm kind of sad the movies are almost over."

Nina also admitted that she is friends with several of the actors in the Twilight films. Twilight did bring new popularity to vampires. True Blood and Vampire Diaries have brought vampires to the small screen successfully, unlike CBS series Moonlight, which ran into bad luck with a writer's strike causing problems for the series, the year it aired.

Vampires are still popular right now, but for how long. With rumors of werewolves becoming the new it thing, series like Vampire Diaries and True Blood will have to find ways to keep fans tuning in. So far, both series are doing that quite well.

Bryce Dallas Howard used MTV Movie Awards to keep her mind off pregnancy nausea

Being pregnant is not always very comfortable. You can ask Bryce Dallas Howard who has recently revealed she is pregnant with her second child. Bryce told People.com that she was using the MTV Movie Awards to keep her mind off the less-than-comfy nausea that goes along with having a bun in the oven.

“[The glow] is the one good thing that comes along with this,” Howard told PEOPLE on Sunday at the MTV Movie Awards. “I’m still feeling a little nauseous to be honest.”

The actress was able to divert her attention away by focusing on the excitement of joining her former Eclipse costars, including Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, at the event.

“I was most star struck meeting them than anyone else I’ve ever met,” Howard admits. “And still if I see Taylor Lautner on the carpet, I’m like, ‘Ooh, there he is. Is he still underage?’”

“It’s great to be at a place like this where it’s kind of relaxed,” she continued. “But it also gets your adrenaline going and it’s sort of eventful. It keeps my mind off the nausea.”

Everyone is talking about the best kiss

So you could imagine what it must have been like for the "Harry Potter" stars who were actually on hand for the Movie Awards -- like, for example, Emma Watson, who not only lost Best Female Performance to Kristen Stewart, but didn't even get to see the kiss between Pattinson and Lautner.

"I missed this moment! I came out, and they were like, 'Rob just missed Taylor!' and I was like, 'Damn!' " Watson told MTV News' Josh Horowitz following the show. "I was still backstage [after introducing the 'Deathly Hallows, Part 2'] clip, so I missed it. But, I mean, yeah, good on them!"

And as if missing out on the kiss-to-end-all-kisses wasn't bad enough, the whole lip-locking theme of the night had Watson feeling left out. Seems she was the only person who didn't have someone to kiss.

"I mean, I was really up against it. Kristen [Stewart] had two kisses, and Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman making out," she laughed. "I mean, I couldn't really compete!"

Kylie Minogue sends photographers and fans wild-fire at Circular Quay, by Eva Rinaldi - 6th June 2011

Kylie Minogue mania has hit Sydney tonight, as she continues her Australian tour.

Her loyal fans were out in full force tonight at Sydney's Circular Quay, right outside the Wildfire nightclub to be exact.

By most accounts her Aphrodite (the Greek goddess of love) tour is a mammoth success.

Showing her appreciation, and getting a bit more free press, she decided to throw a "Hello Sydney" party, but as one might imagine only a small percentage of Sydney was actually invited, and the bouncers let it be known.

The remarkable performing artist and social entrepreneur has survived breast cancer and been one of our greatest exports for close to thirty years. Molly Meldrum, the music media living legend said it right when he tipped her bright future back in the live Countdown days.

She's not Charlene from Neighbours anymore - the lady is Australian performing artist megastar, who is known around the world by her first name KYLIE, alongside other talents like Bono.

She's wisely saved her moolah over the years too and is understood to be worth about $61 million, give or take a few dollars.

One of the great highlights of the Aphrodite - Les Folies tour is the colourful and sexy costumes, and her loyal fans are also playing dress up as they embrace Kylie fever, be it in Sydney, Mexico or downtown Las Vegas.

Fresh off Brisbane last night, he was looking fine tonight. Insiders tip she's sold about 100,000 tickets for her Australian tour thus far.

Kylie mania live in concert will continue with an extra Sydney show playing this Saturday at the Entertainment Centre.

Yes, Kylie will be entertaining big time at the iconic Sydney Ent Centre this Saturday so be quick to snap up one of the few tickets remaining.

See you there fellow gods and goddesses.
