'Twilight' series inspires National Health Service dental care campaign

Last year, vampire fangs were the new rage with teenagers and their dentists, and even though Twilight Saga vampires don't have fangs, many fans were getting this implant procedure done to celebrate their interest in the series.

Now, it seems, dental health professionals are taking notice of the crossover potential because
Twilight (or perhaps more generally, the vampire theme) is being used as a way to encourage oral hygiene.
According to
The Telegraph, the United Kingdom's National Health Service (NHS) has made the attached video campaign (warning: slightly mature) to encourage men to visit their local dentist for preventative care.
"Called Want a Dentist after Dark, the video forms part of a social media campaign for NHS Portsmouth, an area which has poor levels of dental health. Research carried out in the city revealed that 16- to 35-year-old men were most likely to go for dental check-ups if their mother or girlfriend reminded them."
It's certainly not the first time the Saga has been brought into play to encourage safety and health. Last fall, several Twilight-themed roadsigns began to pop up in Oregon, reminding drivers "You are not immortal. Buckle up." Also, the Saga inspired the unintentional health plus of bringing pale skin back "in" (of course, that was before the whole "Vampire Facelift" concept arose).
