‘Breaking Dawn’ CGI Visual Effects Team Grows

Though Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon announced back in October that Oscar–winning visual effects supervisor Jon Bruno would be in charge of the GCI visual effects operations for the Breaking Dawn movie, they have now added Adam Howard (who is known for his work in The Social Newtork) to join Bruno with the superimposition of Mackenzie Foy’s face on the bodies of the younger Renesmee’s.

In The Social Network the Winklevoss Twins were made using special effect’s just like the ones that will be used on Renesmee in Breaking Dawn. They were created by having model/actor Josh Pence play one of the brothers in scenes where both Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss are together.

Armie Hammer played the other Winklevoss. After he had filmed his scenes he went into a studio, where they strapped his head into a harness to film that twin’s face and voice. It was then digitally superimposed over Pence’s face, creating a sort of hybrid actor with Hammer’s head and Pence’s body.

The two worked with an acting coach together for months, developing movements and speech patterns that the real life twins would have. Even though Renesmee is not a twin the same effects will be carried out on her in the studio. The ‘Little Renesmee’s’ will provide the body of Renesmee at different ages but will ALWAYS have Mackenzie’s head ‘morphed’ onto them making her seemlessly grow rapidly over the course of the film
