Dakota Fanning And Elizabeth Olsen Playing A Pair Of Very Good Girls

Naomi Foner’s Very Good Girls sounds like it could be the next sex-crazed teen comedy, a successor to the American Pie series or a distant cousin to Superbad. Then you get a load of its cast, which should lead you to believe it’s operating on a more mature playing field.

Dakota Fanning, Elizabeth Olsen, Peter Sarsgaard, Dustin Hoffman and Sissy Spacek have joined Foner’s production, which will be financed by Ealing Metro International and Prescience. Very Good Girls, which Foner wrote and will direct, currently is being shopped around the Cannes Film Festival, according to Deadline. It casts Fanning and Olsen as high school friends who are on a mission to lose their virginity following graduation but end up falling for the same guy, a charming street artist. Let’s hope that’s Sarsgaard, and not Hoffman, though casting the Green Lantern villain in the role of a flirtatious older man hits a little too close to An Education, does it not?

Fanning, of course, has been making movies for decades. Most recently she sported a wicked cape and dead-eyed to torment Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) in the Twilight saga. Olsen, on the other hand, burst onto the scene at this year’s Sundance Film Festival with breakout roles in and Martha Marcy May Marlene. We interviewed the 21-year-old actress at Sundance, and can’t wait to see what’s she’s able to do with this Very Good role.
