Stan Lee has praised new Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield.
Speaking to DS at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, the comic book creator said that he believes the Social Network actor will be "absolutely great" in the superhero role.
Asked about the casting of the 27-year-old British-American actor, Lee said: "It's great that we have a London actor. I think the more actors that we use from away in other countries is brilliant, because we are one world and we've got to stick up for that."
Lee co-created the Spider-Man character in 1962 with Jack Kirby. He took on cameo roles in all three Tobey Maguire films and will appear in an action scene in the Garfield-led Amazing Spider-Man.
Director Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man, co-starring Emma Stone, Martin Sheen and Rhys Ifans, will be released in 3D on July 4, 2012.
