“I don’t like vampires personally, I don’t know any, but you know my granddaughter was reading it and I thought, ‘Well this looks like fun,’ so I read that,” he added

Monster Ball Tour Sent Lady Gaga Bankrupt

31 May 2011

Lady Gaga has revealed that her spectacular Monster Ball tour actually left her $3 million in debt -- but she doesn't seem too worried about it!

Gaga has admitted that the lavish sets and costumes on the first leg of the tour forced her into bankruptcy, because she spent every cent she had on making sure the tour was perfect.

"I put everything in the show, and I actually went bankrupt after the first extension of The Monster Ball. And it was funny because I didn't know! And I remember I called everybody and said, 'Why is everyone saying I have no money? This is ridiculous, I have five number one singles' - and they said, 'Well, you're $3 million in debt'," Gaga said in an interview with Stephen Fry for Britain's Financial Times.

Since the tour began she has performed the show over 200 times, and is definitely not in debt anymore!

Lady Gaga is heading back to Australia in July for a one off exclusive event.

Lady Gaga Biog- Celebrity News Media

When Lady GaGa was a little girl, she would sing along on her mini plastic tape recorder to Michael Jackson and Cyndi Lauper hits and get twirled in the air in daddy's arms to the sounds of the Rolling Stones and the Beatles.

The precocious child would dance around the table at fancy Upper West Side restaurants using the breadsticks as a baton. And, she would innocently greet a new babysitter in nothing but her birthday suit.

It's no wonder that little girl from a good Italian New York family, turned into the exhibitionist, multi-talented singer-songwriter with a flair for theatrics that she is today: Lady GaGa.

"I was always an entertainer. I was a ham as a little girl...

'On The Road' Oscar Talk From Hitfix

May 30, 2011. Oscars 2012. 10 Things We already Know by June.
June is still two days away, but with the 2011 movie season edging close to the halfway mark, it's becoming painfully apparent Hollywood is in for one humdinger of a competitive awards season. The fireworks won't really begin until the Venice/Telluride/Toronto triumvirate of festivals at the beginning of September, but with studios setting their fourth quarter release dates, hot Cannes titles getting acquired and buzz leaking about what contenders have already been screened it's hard not to see the wheels already in motion. Taking all that into account, here are 10 topics of interest that should hold you over until August. And besides, it's never really to early to talk Oscar, is it?

It's a year of ingenues
We'll talk about Ms. Streep's chances at finally winning a third best actress prize in a minute, but 2012 is clearly looking like the younger ladies could dominate both acting races. The list of contenders includes Elizabeth Olsen ("Martha Marcy May Marlene"), Felicity Jones ("Like Crazy"), Jennifer Lawrence ("Like Crazy"), Kristen Stewart ("On the Road"), Michelle Williams ("My Week with Marilyn"), Kirsten Dunst ("Melancholia"), Bryce Dallas Howard ("The Help"), Jessica Chastain ("The Help," "Take Shelter"), Keira Knightley ("A Dangerous Method"), Scarlett Johansson ("We Brought a Zoo"), Evan Rachel Wood ("The Ides of March") and Anna Kendrick ("50/50"). Needless to say, the roles for ladies have much improved over the past 12 months.

The most competitive best picture field in years?
After "The Blind Side" made the field of ten nominees in 2010, there were many that said it would be difficult to find enough worthy films in the expanded best picture category. The second year of the expansion proved that theory false with a number of significant films being left out in the cold. This year, quality prestige films are on a comeback trail. Look at this preliminary list of 28 possible contenders.

"Crazy Stupid Love," "J. Edgar," "The Descendants," "We Built A Zoo" (Cameron Crowe), "Like Crazy," "Take Shelter," "My Weekend With Marilyn," "The Iron Lady," "War Horse" (Spielberg), "Hugo Cabret" (Martin Scorsese), "Moneyball," "Dream House" (Jim Sheridan), "Midnight in Paris," "Drive," "The Tree of Life," "Young Adult" (Jason Reitman), "50/50," "The Artist," "Contagion" (Steven Soderbergh), "Ides of March" (Clooney), "The Guard," "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" (Stephen Daldry), "Gods of Carnage" (Roman Polanski), ", On the Road" (Walter Salles), "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" (Tomas Alfredson), "In the Land of Blood and Honey" (Angelina Jolie), "A Dangerous Method" (David Cronenberg).

Elizabeth Reaser and Bryce Dallas Howard to Chat With Josh Horowitz

According to MTV they have too much material that they want to preview to put into the MTV Movie Awards. So they are going to do something new calling it the MTV Movie Awards Sneak Peek Week. Here are the details:
“Starting on Monday, May 30, and running through Friday, June 3, we’ll be bringing you exclusive looks at some of this summer’s hottest films, including “Fright Night,” “Horrible Bosses” and more. Each night at 11 p.m. ET, we’ll welcome a film’s cast onto MTV to present an exclusive clip. Then you can continue the live conversation with the stars online, as our own Josh Horowitz hosts an extended chat with the talent. As always, you’ll have the chance to ask the stars your own questions; just tweet at @MTVNews using the hashtag #SPW.”

Tuesday Night: the stars and director of “The Art of Getting By,” a Sundance fave earlier this year, will be stopping by. Emma Roberts, Michael Angarano, Elizabeth Reaser and director Gavin Wiesen will introduce a clip, then stick around to discuss their indie about a lonely student (Freddie Highmore) and the unlikely friendship he strikes up with Roberts’ charismatic and complicated teen girl.

Thursday Night: Emma Stone and Bryce Dallas Howard will jump into the action in support of “The Help.” Based on the #1 New York Times best-seller, the film stars Stone as an unlikely civil-rights activist in ’60s-era Mississippi.”

Next Movie Profiles Xavier Samuel and Other Breakout Nominees

Next Movie has the rundown on each of the nominees for Best Breakout Star for the MTV Movie Awards:

“As if there weren’t already enough hotness in the “Twilight” series, in “Eclipse” we got Australian actor Xavier Samuel as Riley Biers, the young man who is attacked and turned by Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) into a vampire to lead the newborn army against our pals the Cullens. Who IS that guy?! the Twi-Hards asked when the first movie stills showed Riley leading the villainous vampires out of the water, his eyes (among other things) smoldering; and now that they know, poor Xavier’s life will probably never be the same again.”

3 Casting Updates for Anna Kendrick

The Archivist

Sometime this summer the extremely busy Robin Wright (Ari Folman’s The Congress, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Moneyball, Rampart) will be moving behind the camera to make her directorial debut. In the first piece of news since The Archivist was announced late last year, Colin Firth is no longer attached but Wright has apparently managed to add her The Conspirator co-stars Kevin Kline and Tom Wilkinson along with, actresses Sally Hawkins and Anna Kendrick to what will be a robust fivesome of stars (this includes Wright in front of the camera as well).

Gist: Scripted by Ann Cherkis (writer behind the filmed in Montreal, direct-to-video The Secret), this is about an American archivist who desperately tries to win back a valuable account he lost to his ex-wife in the UK while attempting to get her back as well.

Worth Noting: Michael Stipe’s Single Cell Pictures will produce the film – which would be a first in a long time: they’ve only produced: Velvet Goldmine, Being John Malkovich, Thirteen Conversations About One Thing and 2004′s Saved!

Do We Care?: I’m citing Vera Farmiga’s Higher Ground as a recent, formidable example of an actress moving behind the camera and delivering what is a confident directing debut. We wish the same for Wright.

Rapture Palooza

It’s a good week to be John Francis Daley. His show Bones (which I still refuse to watch because it is not a continuation of the Snoop Dogg ‘horror’ film) was just renewed for a seventh season, and now he’s been cast with Anna Kendrick in the Lionsgate post-apocalyptic romantic comedy called Rapture-Palooza. That’s the film where Craig Robinson plays the Antichrist who wants to take Anna Kendrick’s character to be his wife.

THR calls the film “Zombieland meets The Big Lebowski,” and given the plot synopsis that we’ve known, I suppose I can see that being the case:

A year after the Rapture has removed much of humanity from Earth and the planet has been rendered as a hellish proving ground, Ben and Lindsey try to reestablishing their sandwich cart business. Beyond the occasional blood rainstorm and talking locusts that surface occasionally, the sandwich sellers have a new problem: the Anti-Christ (Robinson) decides he wants to take Lindsey as his bride.

Chris Matheson wrote the script, and the film will be directed this summer by Paul Middleditch. You may or may not recall that this is part of Lionsgate’s new ‘micro-budget’ initiative. While the budget for Rapture-Palooza isn’t exactly ‘micro,’ at around $2m, it still means that we’re not in for a lot of effects. Don’t even expect something as studio-ready as Zombieland. Hell, the titles for that movie probably cost as much as Rapture-Palooza will.

Still, what sounded like a possibly middling premise looks a lot better with this trio as the core cast.

ParaNorman

In 2009 Focus Features and LAIKA released Coraline, the great stop-motion animated adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s kids’ book of the same name. Now the companies are teaming again for two more stop-motion 3D films. The first is ParaNorman, which will be released on August 17, 2012. The second is an unnamed project that will be released in 2014.

The voice cast and plot for ParaNorman were sent out today via press release; check the details below.

Chris Butler (Coraline storyboard supervisor) wrote ParaNorman, and he and Sam Fell (The Tale of Despereaux, Flushed Away) are co-directing. Focus describes the movie like so:

In the comedy thriller, a small town comes under siege by zombies. Who can it call? Only misunderstood local boy Norman, who is able to speak with the dead. In addition to the zombies, he’ll have to take on ghosts, witches and, worst of all, moronic grown-ups, to save his town from a centuries-old curse. But this young ghoul whisperer may find his paranormal activities pushed to their otherworldly limits.

The voice cast has some names you’ll like: Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In, The Road) in the lead, with Casey Affleck, Tempestt Bledsoe, Jeff Garlin, John Goodman, Bernard Hill (Titanic), Anna Kendrick, Leslie Mann, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Elaine Stritch (30 Rock).

Noel Fisher (Vladimir) Blogs About ‘Breaking Dawn’

Noel Fisher (who plays Vladimir) has taken to his official Blog to talk about filming for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. Check it out:

“Well, in the last month, I’ve had a birthday, started a website, started “tweeting”, went to the premiere of my film, Battle: Los Angeles and vamped it up all over Baton Rouge and Vancouver filming Breaking Dawn. Now, as I wind down a busy start to 2011, I’m writing my first blog. Not being a “blogger” by nature and not sure my life warrants the detailed documentation, I have some trepidation. But, what the hey. I never thought I would get the hang of tweeting either. :)

I am not a huge computer person. I know enough to get by and that’s pretty much it. I write emails, do banking and look up movie times basically. Because of this, my recent dive into social media has been a truly amazing experience. The welcome I received on Twitter and Facebook has astounded me. I have been blown away by the amount of support and love that comes through on my Twitter feed every day and I want to send a big thank you out to everyone on there. You bring a smile to my face every time I look at it.

In a month of craziness, the Battle: Los Angeles premiere was the craziest without a doubt. As with all movies, the schedule for Breaking Dawn has changed from time to time and for a while it did not look like I would be able to attend my premiere because I was shooting a scene in Vancouver that very same day. None-the-less I came to set with all my baggage from the hotel, just in case I got wrapped early enough to make a last minute flight to Vancouver (the thought being that I could at least make the after party and see some friends even if I missed the actual premiere). When I got to set I was greeted by an example of true kindness that I will never forget.

Bill Condon took me aside and informed me that they (himself, Wyck and Bannerman) had worked out the schedule so that I could shoot the scene and still make my premiere! They had changed the whole day just for me! We shot the scene and I was on my way to the airport within a couple of hours. I landed in Los Angeles, was dropped off at my friends house where I changed and scrambled over to the premiere, making it in the nick of time! It was an absolute whirlwind of a day. I can’t thank them enough for making that possible. It was truly amazing.”

Twilightish Interview With Judi Shekoni (Aka Zafrina)

She plays Zafrina in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn and the folks over at Twilightish got the chance to interview Judi Shekoni about the movies! Here’s an excerpt:
Twilightish: Being a newcomer to the ‘Twilight Saga’, how was it joining this tight group of friends?
Judi:
I didn’t know what it would be like coming into a movie where people had already shot 3 films. It’s amazing. They have new people coming into every film, they’re used to it. It was great working with people who are established and know what is going on.
Twilightish:
The Famous Fandom Question: Did you read the books or see the movies before you went for the part of Zafrina? If so, were you a fan of the series before?
Judi:
I was already a big fan of Twilight. Waited for each book to be released, and read all four years ago. I knew about the project (film). I was a fan from the beginning when Kristen was announced as Bella. I love the series.
Twilightish:
Zafrina is part of the Amazon clan with her two sisters, did you guys find instant chemistry on set?
Judi: I spent a lot of time working with Tracey Heggins (Senna),  people even thought we were sisters in real life! We hung out in hotel rooms, went to lunch and dinner with each other, became inseparable during the course of filming. We still call or speak with each other now, we definitely bonded really well! Being part of a coven made you part of a team.
